Scotchegg Recipe

Scotch Eggs Recipe with Eggs, Sausagemeat, All Spice, Nutmeg, Parsley, Thyme & Breadcrumbs.

Yes we are a web company, but were called scotchegg, so what kind of a scotchegg web company would we be if we never offered you a scotchegg recipe!
So here goes ..

INGREDIENTS (Serves 4)
  • 4 Eggs
  • 8 oz (225g) Sausagemeat
  • 1 tsp All Spice
  • Large Pinch of Nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Parsley
  • Pinch of Thyme
  • 1 oz (25g) Plain Flour (seasoned with Salt & Pepper)
  • Plain Flour for Sprinkling
  • 3 oz (75g) Fresh Breadcrumbs (in a small dish)
  • 1 Beaten Egg (in a small dish)
  • Oil for deep frying

METHOD

Place the Eggs into a pan of boiling water and boil for no less than 12 minutes (You dont want runny eggs!). While the eggs are boiling mix together the Sausagemeat, All Spice, Nutmeg, Parsley and Thyme, then divide this mixture into four equal portions and set aside for later!

Now when the Eggs boiled , plunge them immediately into cold water and allow to cool a little ( Be careful, they will be hot!). Then when cooled enough to handle remove the shells, dry, and then lightly sprinkle with the seasoned Plain Flour.

Right are you ready to get messy! Sprinkle your hands with some additional Flour and place one of the Sausagemeat portions in your hands. Pat this so its quite flat and then wrap around one of the boiled Eggs. Keep doing this with the Sausagemeat until the Egg is completely and evenly covered.
Done it ? Great now do the other three!

When all the eggs are done, brush each Egg in the Beaten Egg and then roll around in the Breadcrumbs. Keep doing this untill the are sufficiently covered in Breadcrumbs.

Finally, deep fry the covered Eggs in preheated Oil for around 6 minutes and then simply drain them on Kitchen paper.

Done! Now serve them hot or cold!!

Please enjoy and make sure you let us know how they turn out :)
