Fundamental Values for Professional Web Development
‘That complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, morals, law, custom, and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society.’ EB Tyler
Our landscape is designed by the manifestations of human intellectual achievement. Our culture has been moulded by the conditions of nature and the intervention of man; it is what defines us as a society. Traveling, reading, participating in new experiences, working with the community, listening to music from all corners of the world and documenting the instruments and technology that are an elementary part of societies culture today are influences required when developing websites and applications.
Interaction is important. People are important. Collaboration is important.
We are social creatures. Some of the best ideas conceived have been the product of a collaborative process such as conversation. In order for something to work, there has to be an equal level of empathy and assertiveness through the many conversations had at meetings to get a project off the ground.
The way we natural socialise and communicate produces a series of behavior patterns that direct the way we learn and interact, so its important for us – speaking and developing in the digital tongue – to value and respond to the different ways in which we communicate.
‘An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.’ Ben Franklin
We cannot produce exceptional work if we are not clued up about the innovation of new products, new findings and new technology, or if we do not understand the workings of other sectors, but that is a fundamental part of our work as web developers anyway.
Web development is the language of the future, which is why it’s important to educate our clients about the development their website or mobile app. Not many people see code as another language because it isn’t spoken out loud, but it is; it is a language spoken between technology.
Forget about the middle man. We are the builders. We are the foundation.
You may not know this, but many PR, Marketing and Design agencies do not have web or app developers in house. In fact, they contract work to digital companies (HELLO) who are there for the entirety of the project. We partake in the provisions of design, we sit in on meetings with their branded name badge, we write the technical and digital proposals and we are very wise when it comes to digital marketing. What I am basically sharing with you as that we are the core mechanism directing the marketing director of the company your paying extra for (sorry- its just the way marketing is).
This method of working is destroying how people value and respect the work of developers world wide, and we don’t like it. We make sure you meet and know everyone working on your project. We outline our time frames and costs in the proposals and specs you receive, and actually do keep it in house so that you know where every singe penny is going.
